I have found that one of the greatest things about photography is that most of the time my favorite photos are of things I had not intended to find. Whether it be a hike or a simple walk, I set out planing to take pictures but I don’t always have a plan as to what I will photograph. In this case I went to a local pond that is mostly home to a variety of ducks where I found a Great Egret. Great Egrets tend to only come here to Arizona during the autumn and winter seasons.

This photo shows a Great Egret watching the calm water of a pond. In the background are chinese elm trees which turn lovely shades of yellow and orange during autumn.
