Take a look at this Blue Mountains painting which has texture in the mountains. I was inspired to paint this landscape from many road trips here in American. To give the painting interest I added texture throughout. Here is how I add texture to my paintings.
It is all about adding two colors that complement each other. Plus a little patience. First I added thick paint popping up from the canvas. I Let the first layer of paint dry, before adding my second color. The second color brought out the first color.
For this painting I added silhouettes of the mountains, layering from back to front. Lastly I added whites to bring out the atmospheric perspective.
